Each post has three dates:
- created ("published") : when the post was first saved into the database
- automatically generated
- cannot be manually changed
- updated ("last updated") : when the post was last saved into the database
- automatically generated
- cannot be manually changed
- backdated : (optional) when the post was originally written
- this is human generated
- can be manually changed
- does not have to exist
The "backdated" ("originally created") field of a post exists due to database limitations:
- we cannot change the automatically-generated created or updated field in posts
- we can still use it to show the original date of a post
- however, the date won't affect the sorting order of posts
Future versions may allow for sorting by the "backdated" field 🤞
